Quick Hits ⚡
Snapchat’s now charging you to keep your old Memories if you’ve got more than 5GB saved up. People are not thrilled about paying for photos they already uploaded, but here we are.
Trump says the TikTok deal is done and China’s president signed off on it. ByteDance and the Chinese government haven’t actually confirmed any of this yet, so… we’ll see.
Meta’s launching a £2.99/month subscription in the UK to ditch ads on Facebook and Instagram. EU users already have this option, but UK folks can’t opt out of personalized ads entirely—just pay to not see them.
YouTube creators put £2.2 billion into the UK economy last year, according to a new report. There’s now an actual parliamentary group representing creators, which feels both very official and slightly weird.
Apple’s secret internal Siri chatbot - Testing improved version internally, no public release planned…
OpenAI’s Social App Lets You Deepfake Your Friends… 😬
OpenAI just launched Sora as a TikTok-style social app, and within 24 hours the feed was full of deepfakes of Sam Altman doing ridiculous things. Altman serving drinks to Pikachu at Starbucks. Altman stealing Nvidia GPUs from Target. Altman asking pigs in a pen scrolling their phones, “Are my piggies enjoying their slop?”

Deep Dive
Techolution → Social Media Manager — ₹9,00,000 – ₹11,00,000 a year
Forget the ‘Social Media Manager’ title for a second and just look at the salary. This isn’t a job for scheduling posts; it’s a strategic role focused on turning social media into a revenue engine. Your entire application needs to be about ROI. Don’t talk about engagement rates; talk about how you’ll generate Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) and directly support the sales team.
The standout move here is to do the job before you get the job. Spend an hour auditing their current social media, particularly on LinkedIn. Put together a two-slide deck. Slide one: “Three Observations on Techolution’s Current Social Strategy.” Slide two: “A 90-Day Plan to Double Social-Sourced Leads.” Be specific. Suggest a content series, a plan to boost the CEO’s personal brand, or an idea for a targeted ad campaign. This proves you’re a strategist who thinks in terms of pipeline, not just posts.
The big mistake people will make is treating this like a B2C role. It’s a B2B tech company. They sell complex solutions, not sneakers. Your approach can’t be all about memes and viral trends. You need to show you understand how to build trust and authority in a technical space. Mention how you’d create content form their existing whitepapers, build relationships with industry influencers, and you might even suggest starting a podcast for their CTO. They need to know you get their world.
Kalpins Marketing Solutions → AI Marketing Intern — ₹4,500–₹9,000/mo
Every marketing agency is scrambling to add ‘AI’ to their services right now. An ‘AI Marketing Intern’ role like this isn’t about grunt work; it’s your chance to be the person who gets to experiment with the most interesting new tools on the market. They’re not hiring for a seasoned expert (the pay tells you that), they’re hiring for someone who is obsessively curious and a fast learner.
Forget a standard cover letter. Your application needs to be a demonstration. Use an AI tool to create it. Seriously. Make a short, 30-second intro video of yourself using an AI avatar from a platform like HeyGen. Or, use Claude to co-write a short blog post titled “3 AI Marketing Trends Kalpins Should Be Using in 2026” and submit that as your writing sample. This proves you’re not just interested in AI, you’re actively using it. It’ll make you stand out from every other CV they receive.
The job description explicitly mentions ChatGPT, Jasper, and Midjourney. This is your cue. The biggest red flag is just putting “Proficient in ChatGPT” on your CV. Everyone does that. It’s meaningless. Instead, list specific tools you’ve experimented with and show what you’ve created. Mention Midjourney for image generation, Jasper for short-form copy, Opus Clip for video repurposing. This signals that you’re a genuine enthusiast who explores the ecosystem, not just someone who’s used a single chatbot. That’s how you prove your value.

Tools That Don’t Suck
The Browser Extension You’re Sleeping On
Bardeen - it’s like Zapier but it lives in your browser and automates the annoying stuff you do 50 times a day. Scraping LinkedIn profiles into a spreadsheet? One click. Copying job postings into Notion? Automated. It’s free for basic stuff and actually saves time instead of just claiming to save time.
The “Professional Email” Hack
If you’re stuck with a cringe old email (xXcoolboy2003Xx@hotmail), don’t make a new one. Get a custom domain for like £10/year (Porkbun, Namecheap) and forward it to your existing inbox. you@yourname.com looks infinitely better and you don’t have to juggle multiple logins.
Enjoyed these? Paid subscribers received our full list of 5 or more actually (actually-actually) usefull tools this week, including a clever Claude-to-Figma pipeline and how to automate file renaming.
Myth Busted
“You have to use all 30 hashtags” Not true, and often counterproductive. While the ultimate pro-tip from Instagram’s CEO is to use none at all, if you feel compelled to use them, stick to 5-10 highly relevant ones. Instagram’s gotten better at understanding context without you spamming tags. Using irrelevant hashtags just to hit 30 can actually hurt reach because you’re putting your content in front of the wrong people.
How to Get an Unfair Advantage
I hope you enjoyed this edition of Remote Round-Up. If you’re serious about landing your next remote role and staying ahead of the curve, here’s what paid subscribers received this week:

Exclusive Job Application Strategy: You saw the free sample for India, but paid members got a detailed ‘Deep Dive’ for 11 of the top jobs in this email, with specific advice on how to tailor an application and stand out.
The Full Toolkit: You got 2 of our ‘Tools That Don’t Suck’. Paid members got the complete list of 5.
Live Workshops: Paid subscribers get exclusive access to live workshops, like the one coming up next week on CVs & Cover Letters.
If that sounds good, you can upgrade your subscription in one click.
